Blue Swimmer Crab Review: Draft Proposal to Review Blue Swimmer Crab fisheries in the South West

Things to know: The Review Blue Swimmer Crab fisheries in the South West was development for years, however the industry was only provided four weeks to consult, develop and provide industry response. The proposed management arrangements pose a significant risk to commercial crab fisheries. Much of the review was based on Cockburn Sound scenario, with no consideration that this was a unique circumstance. In 2006, the Desalination Plant commenced the flow of hyper saline water into the Sound, and as it is a denser mass than water it concentrated on bottom and flows all the way to the Sepia Depression.
